Religious Education
St Mary’s School is a Catholic school and as such has Christ at its central focus in every aspect of its existence. We invite and suppport students to discover God's presence in their daily lives. We hope our students will develop a sense of belonging, active participation and witness within the school, parish and local community.
The sources of Religious Education are the expression of how God is revealed in life, scripture, tradition and liturgy. Religious Education is concerned with the development of relationships and is addressed much more broadly than in Religious Education lessons only.
St Mary's uses the Diocesan Religious Education Curriculum, "Awakenings".
"Awakenings" is a comprehensive and sequential curriculum framework that is informed by the Doctrine of the Catholic Tradition and is presented to teachers and students in a way that reflects current understandings about teaching and learning. "Awakenings" (p.55) states that:

- by connecting compassion with justice.
